Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Qasim narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Ja'far married the former wife of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and also his daughter who was from another wife besides that wife.

Hazrat Ikrimah bin Khalid narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Safwan married the former wife of a man from Banu Thaqif and also his daughter who was from another wife besides her.

Ayyub narrates that Muhammad bin Sirin was asked about this matter, and he replied that there is no harm in it. And he said that he had learned that in Egypt there was a man named Jabalah. He married the umm walad slave woman of a man and also his daughter who was from another woman besides her.

Ayyub narrates that a companion, Sa'd bin Qarha, married the former wife of a man and also his daughter who was from another wife besides her.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that a man can marry the umm walad slave woman of a woman and also her daughter who is from another wife.

Hazrat Mujahid says that there is no harm if a man marries the former wife of a person and such a daughter of his who is from another wife besides her.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin says that there is no harm if a man marries the former wife of a person and such a daughter of his who is from another wife besides her. However, according to Hasan, doing so is disliked.

Hasan was asked about this matter, and he declared it impermissible. A person asked whether there was any connection between the two. He reflected, then said: I do not see any connection between the two.

Hazrat Sulaiman bin Yasar says that there is no harm if a man marries the former wife of a person and such a daughter of his who is from another wife besides her.

Hazrat Ibn Aun asked Muhammad about this matter, but he expressed ignorance.
