Hadith 16949
١٦٩٤٩ - حدثنا عباد بن عوام عن سفيان بن حسين عن الحكم عن مجاهد عن ابن عباس قال: لا يحل نكاح نساء أهل الكتاب إذا كانوا حربًا (١).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that it is not permissible to marry the women of the People of the Book who are engaged in war with the Muslims. Hazrat Hakam says that when I told this to Ibrahim, he was very pleased.
Hadith 16951
١٦٩٥١ - حدثنا عبد الرحمن (بن محمد) (١) المحاربي عن حجاج عن الحكم عن أبي عياض قال: نساء أهل الكتاب لنا حلال إلا أهل الحرب فإن نساءهم وذبائحهم عليكم حرام.
Hazrat Abu Ayyaz says that it is permissible for us to marry the women of the People of the Book, but if they are at war, then their women and their slaughtered animals become unlawful.
Hadith 16952
١٦٩٥٢ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن بن أبي (غنية) (١) عن الحكم قال: إن من أهل الكتاب من لا يحل لنا مناكحته ولا ذبيحته، أهل الحرب.
Hazrat Hakam states that there are some People of the Book whose women and slaughtered animals are not lawful for us. They are the People of the Book who fight against the Muslims.
Hadith 16953
١٦٩٥٣ - حدثنا محمد بن (بكر) (١) عن ابن جريج (قال) (٢): أخبرني أبو بكر بن عبد اللَّه عن محمد بن عمرو (العتواري) (٣) ويحيى بن عبد الرحمن بن حاطب عن عبيد اللَّه بن عبد اللَّه بن عتبة.
Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair states that the predecessors have said regarding the women of the People of the Book that if she leaves the land of war, she will enter the land of Arabia with security. If she openly settles in the land of Arabia, then there is no harm for a Muslim to marry her. If she only expresses settlement in the form of a marriage proposal, then marriage should not be contracted with her.
