Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Hazrat Usman bin Maz’oon (may Allah be pleased with him) from remaining unmarried. If he had permitted him, we would have castrated ourselves.

Hazrat Alqamah narrates that I was walking in Mina with Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). During this time, they met the Commander of the Faithful, Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and stood talking with him. Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! Should I not arrange your marriage with a young girl? Perhaps she may remind you of your youth." Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "You have also said this, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O young people! Whoever among you has the means to marry should do so, for marriage lowers the gaze and protects the private parts. Whoever does not have the means should fast regularly, for fasting will be a shield against sins.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O young people! Whoever among you has the means to marry, he should get married, for marriage lowers the gaze and protects the private parts. Whoever does not have the ability to marry should observe fasting continuously, for fasting will be a shield against sins.

Hazrat Zuhri narrates that when Hazrat Shaddad bin Aws lost his eyesight, he said, "Arrange my marriage for me, because the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) advised me not to meet Allah Almighty in a state in which I am not married."

Hasan narrates that Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said during his terminal illness: "Arrange my marriage for me, because I do not like to meet Allah Almighty in a state of being unmarried."

Hazrat Ibrahim bin Maisarah narrates that Hazrat Tawus said to me, "Either get married, or I will say to you the same thing that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Abu al-Zawaid: Either weakness has prevented you from marriage, or immorality."

Hazrat Tawus says that the worship and sacrifices of a young man cannot be complete without marriage.

Hazrat Ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I were to live in this world for only ten days, I would wish to have a wife.

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Marry women, for because of them you will receive wealth.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Marry with the hope of (receiving) wealth.

It is narrated from Hazrat Tawoos (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is nothing like marriage for those who love each other.

Hazrat Ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) says that if I had only one night to live in this world, I would wish to have a wife.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we young men were with the Prophet ﷺ. We said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should we not end our masculine desires?" He replied, "No." Then he permitted us that we may marry a woman permanently in exchange for some clothing. Then he recited this verse: "O you who believe! Do not make unlawful the pure things which Allah has made lawful for you."

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade remaining unmarried.
