Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a person in the state of Ihram does not find an izar (lower garment), he may wear trousers, and if he does not have shoes, he may wear socks.

It is narrated from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the same manner.

It is narrated in a similar manner from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which clothes a Muhrim can wear, or which clothes he should not wear. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should not wear socks nor trousers. However, if he does not find shoes, then whoever does not find shoes may wear socks, but he should cut them below the ankles.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever in the state of Ihram does not find shoes should wear socks, and whoever does not find an izar should wear trousers.

Hazrat Umair bin Al-Aswad narrates that I asked Hazrat Umar, "What do you say regarding a Muhrim (person in Ihram) using socks?" He replied, "For the one who does not have shoes, socks serve as shoes for him."

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that if a Muhrim does not have shoes, he may wear socks, and if he does not have an izar, he may wear trousers.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that if a person in the state of Ihram does not have an izar, he may wear trousers, and if he does not have shoes, he may wear socks.

Hazrat Bakr says that if a pilgrim in the state of Ihram does not have an izar, he may wear trousers.

Hazrat Ata says that there is no harm if a pilgrim in the state of Ihram does not have an izar; he may wear trousers, and if he does not have shoes, he may wear socks.
