Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Qatadah was asked about a person who is himself in the Haram and kills game present in the Hil, or he himself is in the Hil and the game is in the Haram? He replied that upon him is its fidyah and compensation.

Hasan was asked about a man who kills game present in the Haram, and that game leaves the Haram and dies outside? He replied that he will be liable for it. And if he kills game in the Hil, and the game is also in the Hil, then that game enters the Haram and dies there? He replied that he will not be liable.

Hazrat Hammad says regarding the person who hunts an animal outside the boundaries of the Haram and the hunted animal goes into the Haram and dies there, that in his view, it is preferable not to eat it.

Hazrat Ata says that if a game animal is hunted outside the boundaries of the Haram and then enters the Haram and dies there, it should not be eaten because it died in the Haram, and no compensation will be due for it because it was hunted outside the boundaries of the Haram.

Hazrat Jabir says that if hunting is done outside the boundaries of the Haram but the animal dies within the Haram, then expiation will be due; and if hunting is done within the Haram and the animal dies outside the boundaries of the Haram, then expiation will also be due.
