Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we used to continue eating the meat of the sacrifice until we reached Madinah Munawwarah.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that we used to not eat the meat of the sacrifice except during the days of Mina. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted us and said: Eat it and make it provision for your journey. So we used to eat it and make it provision for our journey. The narrator says that we asked Hazrat Ata: What is your opinion, is this command only regarding the Hadi of Tamattu'? He replied: No, I consider it to be regarding all Hadi (sacrificial animals).

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would not eat for more than three days.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: None of you should eat the meat of the sacrifice for more than three days.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ma’qal that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I had forbidden you from storing the meat of sacrificial animals, so (now) eat it and take it as provision for your journeys.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that during the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to make the meat of the sacrificial animal our provision for the journey to Madinah Munawwarah.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that we used to travel to different cities with this meat.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that whatever Allah Almighty wished, we would sacrifice it and we would eat from it until we reached Basra.
