Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to Hazrat Ibn Zubair after the sun had set: Now depart from Arafah.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Jibreel came to Ibrahim and stayed with him at Arafat, until the time came when a person could hasten to offer the Maghrib prayer, then he took him and departed.

It is narrated in a similar manner from Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Hazrat Muhammad bin Qais bin Makhramah bin Al-Muttalib that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon at Arafat and said: "As for what follows! Today is the day of the Greater Hajj. The people of ignorance and idolaters used to depart before sunset on this day, at the time when the sun was behind the mountains, as if the turbans of the people were on their faces. We will depart after the sun has set, so no one should hasten. Our way is contrary to that of the polytheists and idolaters."

Hazrat Ibn Zubair narrates that the Imam departed from Arafat after the sun had set.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) considered it better to leave Arafat when the night had become apparent and the fasting person had broken his fast.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid narrates that I was with Hazrat Abdullah at Arafat and Hazrat Usman was the leader over the people. When the sun set, Hazrat Abdullah said, "If the leader of the believers departs from Arafat at this time, he will attain the Sunnah." So he immediately set out.
