Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), in the explanation of Allah Almighty’s command { فَصِیَامُ ثَلٰثَۃِ اَیَّامٍ فِی الْحَجِّ }, says that keep one fast before the day of Tarwiyah, one on the day of Tarwiyah, and one on the day of Arafah. And if the fast is missed in these days, then have suhoor on the night of the 14th of Dhul-Hijjah and keep three fasts, and keep seven fasts after returning.

Ibrahim and Hazrat Mujahid say that observe three fasts in such a way that the last fast is on the day of Arafah.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far also says the same.

Hazrat Ata says that if you wish, you may fast at the beginning of the ten days, or in the middle, and the last fast should be on the day of Arafah.

A narration similar to the statement of ‘Ata is also reported from Sa‘id bin Jubair.

Hazrat Mujahid says that keep three fasts in such a way that the last fast is on the day of Arafah.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the last fast should be on the day of Arafah.

Hazrat Sha'bi, in the explanation of Allah Almighty's command { فَصِیَامُ ثَلٰثَۃِ اَیَّامٍ فِی الْحَجِّ }, says that one should keep the first fast before the Day of Tarwiyah and the last fast on the Day of Arafah.

It is narrated in the same way from Hazrat Sha'bi.

Hazrat Mujahid says that whoever did not fast on the day before Yawm al-Tarwiyah, on Yawm al-Tarwiyah itself, and on the day of Arafah, his fasts have been missed.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "One fast should be kept the day before Yawm al-Tarwiyah, one fast on Yawm al-Tarwiyah, and one fast on the day of Arafah." And Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair said: "Three fasts should be kept during the days of Tashreeq."

Hazrat Tawus says that the one performing Tamattu’ should fast in such a way that the last fast falls on the day of Arafah.

Hasan, in the explanation of Allah Almighty’s statement { فَصِیَامُ ثَلٰثَۃِ اَیَّامٍ فِی الْحَجِّ }, says that the last fast should be observed on the day of Arafah.

Hazrat Alqamah says that the last fast was observed on the day of Arafah.
