Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) marked the sacrificial animal.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that there is no Hadi except for the one to which a garland is put, its sign is made, and it is made to stay at Arafah.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Al-Aswad narrates that I performed Hajj with Hazrat Aswad and he had many sacrificial animals with him. Then he went to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked her about this. I saw that she had left the sacrificial animals in Mina itself and had not brought them to Arafat.

Hazrat Aflah says that I saw Hazrat Qasim driving the sacrificial animal towards Arafah.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked whether the sacrificial camel should be marked. The narrator said that she replied, "Yes." She was then asked, "How should it be marked?" She replied, "If you wish, you may do so. Indeed, it is marked so that it may be known that it is a sacrificial camel."

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that whoever wishes may mark (the animal), and whoever wishes may not mark it. Indeed, people mark the sacrificial animal out of fear of it being stolen.

Hasan says regarding the person who lets the sacrificial camel loose in Mina and does not mark them (or does not bring them to Arafah), then that is sufficient for him, but he preferred marking them (bringing them to Arafah).

Hazrat Alqamah narrates that Abdullah sent the sacrificial animal with me and said that if you reach on the evening of Arafah, then take it to Arafah.

Hazrat Dhahak says that whoever sends a Hadi (sacrificial animal) and is with it, he should take it to Arafah.
