Those who permitted omitting ramal (brisk walking)
Hadith 14737
١٤٧٣٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن حجاج عن أبي جعفر: أن (ابن) (١) عباس وعلي بن حسين كانا لا يرملان (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) and Hazrat Ali bin Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) did not perform ramal (brisk walking) during tawaf.
Hadith 14738
١٤٧٣٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عباد بن العوام عن حجاج عن أبي جعفر قال: إن شاء رمل وإن (شاء) (١) لم يرمل.
Hazrat Abu Ja'far says that (the one performing Tawaf) if he wishes, he may perform Ramal, otherwise he may leave it; and Hazrat Ata says that there is allowance in this, if he wishes he may perform Ramal, otherwise he may leave it, but in my view, performing Ramal is more preferable.
Hadith 14740
١٤٧٤٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن مبارك عن سعيد بن عبد العزيز عن عطاء في الرجل ينسى (الرمل) (١) قال: ليس عليه شيء.
It was asked from Hazrat Ata that if a person forgets to perform ramal during tawaf? He replied: There is nothing (no penalty) upon him.
Hadith 14741
١٤٧٤١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن علية عن أيوب عن نافع قال: كان ابن عمر لا يرمل إذا أهل من مكة (١).
When Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would enter into Ihram from Makkah, he would not perform Ramal.
