Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from the mother of Hazrat Sulaiman bin Amr bin Al-Ahwas Al-Azdi that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not kill one another among yourselves; when you throw pebbles at the Jamrah, throw them like small pebbles.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir in a marfu’ form that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Strike the Jamarat with pebbles like small stones.”

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ibrahim narrates from a person of his tribe that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught the people the rites of Hajj, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Strike the Jamrah with pebbles like small stones."

Hazrat Jabir says: "Throw small pebbles at the Jamrah."

Hazrat Tawus says that during Hajj, we used to throw very small pebbles.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I asked Hazrat Ata about throwing pebbles at the Jamrah. He replied: The pebble should be between two pebbles. I asked: How big should it be? He replied: Very small.

Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair says that the pebble with which the Rami is performed should be very small.

It is narrated from Hazrat Fadl bin Abbas that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Strike the Jamrah with small pebbles.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me on the morning of the stoning of the Jamrah: "Collect pebbles for me." Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says, "I collected small pebbles for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stone with pebbles like these." Then he said: "Beware of exaggeration in religion."
