Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that people used to depart after performing Hajj in whatever manner they wished. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: No person should return until his last act is the circumambulation (Tawaf) of the House of Allah (Ka'bah).

Hazrat Umar would send back the person whose last act was not the circumambulation of the Ka'bah.

Hazrat Umar said that no person should return until he has performed the Tawaf; indeed, the last act of Hajj should be the Tawaf.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that people were commanded that their last act should be the circumambulation (Tawaf) of the Ka'bah, and this command was made easier for menstruating women (a concession was given to them in this matter).

Hazrat Tawus states that the pilgrims used to return from Mina itself, but they were commanded that their last act should be the circumambulation (Tawaf) of the Ka'bah. However, a concession was given in this regard for women experiencing menstruation.
