Hadith 14085
١٤٠٨٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر ويزيد عن حميد عن أنس
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man who was walking with great difficulty, supported by two men. Yazid, the narrator, says that he was walking with the support of his two sons. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is this? The companions replied that this man had made a vow to go to the House of Allah on foot. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely Allah is free from needing this person to put himself in such hardship. Go and tell him to ride (an animal) and go.
Hadith 14088
١٤٠٨٨ - حدثنا أبو (بكر) (١) قال: حدثنا أبو خالد وابن فضيل عن يحيى بن سعيد عن (عبيد اللَّه) (٢) بن (زحر) (٣) عن أبي سعيد الرعيني عن (عبد اللَّه) (٤) ⦗١١٠⦘ (بن) (٥) مالك عن عقبة بن عامر الجهني، قال: نذرت أختي أن تمشي إلى بيت اللَّه حافية غير (مختمرة) (٦) (فسألت) (٧) النبي ﷺ فقال: " (مر) (٨) أختك (فلتختمر ولتركب) (٩) ولتصم ثلاثة أيام" (١٠).
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir Al-Juhani that my sister made a vow that she would go to the House of Allah (Baitullah) on foot with her head uncovered. I asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tell your sister to cover herself with a sheet, ride (instead of walking), and fast for three days.
Hadith 14089
١٤٠٨٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا حفص عن حجاج عن الحكم عن علي (١).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that if a person makes a vow to go to the House of Allah on foot, but then becomes unable and cannot go, he should send a camel for sacrifice and himself go riding.
Hadith 14091
١٤٠٩١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو أسامة عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن الشعبي عن ابن عباس في رجل مشى نصف الطريق في نذر ثم ركب، قال: (يحج) (١) من قابل فيركب ما مشي ويمشي ما ركب، و (ينحر) (٢) بدنة (٣).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said regarding the person who makes a vow and then, after walking half the way, rides (an animal): he should come again the next year and cover the distance he had walked by riding, and the distance he had covered by riding, he should cover on foot.
Hadith 14092
١٤٠٩٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن يونس عن الحسن في رجل نذر أن (يحج) (١) ماشيًا، قال: يمشي حتى إذا أعيا ركب و (أهدى) (٢).
Hasan says regarding the person who vows to perform Hajj on foot: he should continue walking on foot, then when he becomes tired, he should ride and offer a sacrifice.
Hadith 14093
١٤٠٩٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو أسامة عن هشام عن الحسن قال: يمشي، (فإن انقطع) (١) ركب وأهدى بدنة.
Hasan says that at first he should walk on foot, but if he becomes unable, then he should ride and sacrifice a camel.
Hadith 14094
١٤٠٩٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يعلي بن عبيد عن الأجلح عن عمرو بن سعيد البجلي قال: كنت تحت منبر ابن الزبير وهو عليه، فجاء رجل (وقال) (١): يا أمير المؤمنين، إني نذرت أن أحج ماشيًا حتى إذا كان كذا وكذا خشيت أن يفوتني الحج فركبت، قال: لا (خطأ) (٢) (عليك) (٣) ارجع (عام قابل) (٤) فامش ما ركبت واركب ما مشيت (٥).
Hazrat Amr bin Saeed Al-Bajali narrates that I was sitting with Hazrat Ibn Zubair while he was seated on the pulpit. A person came to him and said, "O Commander of the Faithful! I had made a vow to perform Hajj on foot. When I had traveled a certain distance on foot, I feared that I might miss the Hajj, so I mounted (an animal)." He (Ibn Zubair) said, "There is no sin upon you. Perform Hajj again next year, and the distance you traveled mounted, cover that on foot, and the distance you traveled on foot, cover that mounted."
Hadith 14095
١٤٠٩٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن خصيف عن عطاء في رجل جعل عليه المشي فمشى بعض الطريق وركب (بعضًا) (١) فقال: ينظر ما ركب ثم يقوم جزاءه (فإن) (٢) بلغ بدنة اشتراها وأهداها، قال: فإن لم (تبلغ) (٣) تصدق به على المساكين.
Hazrat Ata says regarding the person who vows to perform Hajj on foot, then after traveling some distance on foot, rides (an animal): he should estimate the value of the journey he did while riding. If it equals the price of a camel, he should buy a camel and sacrifice it. And if the value of that wealth does not reach the price of a camel, he should give it as charity to the poor.
Hadith 14096
١٤٠٩٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا زيد بن حباب عن موسى بن (عبيدة) (١) قال: (سمعت) (٢) يزيد بن عبد اللَّه بن قسيط يقول: (يركب) (٣) ويهدي (٤) بدنة.
Hazrat Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qasit says that he should ride and sacrifice a camel, and Hazrat Qasim says that when the next year comes, he should cover on foot the distance he had traveled while riding.
Hadith 14098
١٤٠٩٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن إدريس عن عبيد اللَّه بن عمرو (عن) (١) مالك بن أنس عن عروة بن أذينة -قال مالك: (جدته) (٢) - وقال (عبيد) (٣) اللَّه: (إن) (٤) (أمه) (٥) جعلت عليها المشي فمشت حتى إذا انتهت إلى السقيا عجزت، [(فسألت) (٦) ابن عمر] (٧) فقال: مروها أن تعود من العام المقبل، فتمشي من حيث عجزت (٨).
The respected mother of Hazrat Ubaidullah made a vow to perform Hajj on foot. When she traveled on foot and reached the place of Saqya, she became unable to continue traveling on foot. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) was asked about this matter. He said: Tell her to come again next year, and from the place where she became unable to walk, she should continue the journey on foot from there.
Hadith 14099
١٤٠٩٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا كثير بن هشام عن جعفر بن برقان عن حبيب بن أبي مرزوق عن عطاء قال: أيما امرأة جعلت عليها المشي إلى البيت فلم تستطع فلتركب (ولتهد) (١) بدنة.
Hazrat Ata says that if a woman vows to perform Hajj on foot but then does not have the strength to walk, she should ride (an animal) and offer the sacrifice of a camel.
