Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said that I do not mind whether I perform the stoning at Jamarat with six pebbles or with seven. And Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said that we used to perform the stoning with seven pebbles even in the days of ignorance, and in Islam as well, we do it with seven.

Hazrat Tawoos says regarding the person who performs Rami with six pebbles, he should give something in charity.

Hazrat Mujahid says that nothing is obligatory upon him.

Hazrat Ata was asked: What if a person performs Rami with five pebbles? He replied: If the days of Tashreeq have not passed, then he should throw the remaining pebbles as well, and if the days of Tashreeq have passed, then he should offer a sacrifice (dam).

Hasan says that if a person performs the stoning of the Jamarat with six pebbles, then he should repeat the stoning.
