Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib says that whoever performs Umrah during the months of Hajj and then returns, he will not be counted among those performing Hajj Tamattu, but whoever stays there after performing Umrah, he is a Mutamatti.

It is narrated in a similar manner from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).

Hazrat Umar says: Whoever performs Umrah during the months of Hajj, stays there, and then performs Hajj, he is considered to have performed Hajj Tamattu’. And whoever performs Umrah, returns home, and then goes again to perform Hajj, he will not be counted as one who performed Hajj Tamattu’.

Hazrat Ata, Hazrat Tawus, and Hazrat Mujahid say that if a person performs Umrah during the months of Hajj and then stays there, he is considered to have performed Hajj Tamattu.

Hazrat Ata says that a person who performs Umrah during the months of Hajj, then returns to his city and then again performs Hajj in the same year, will not be counted as one who performs Hajj Tamattu. Rather, the person who, after performing Umrah, stays there and does not return until Hajj, is the one who performs Hajj Tamattu.

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim was asked: Some people perform Umrah in the month of Rajab and then stay there to perform Hajj as well. Are such people considered to have performed Hajj Tamattu'? He replied: No, the one who is considered to have performed Hajj Tamattu' is the person who performs Umrah during the months of Hajj, then stays there until Hajj and performs Hajj as well. This person is considered to have performed Tamattu', and he must offer a Hady (sacrificial animal); if he cannot find one, then he should fast.

Hazrat Ata says that when a person performs Umrah during the months of Hajj and then stays there and also performs Hajj, he is one who performs Hajj Tamattu.

It is narrated in the same manner from Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that if he stays there after performing Umrah, then it is obligatory for him to sacrifice a Hadi animal.
