Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that the circumambulation (Tawaf) of the House of Allah is like prayer, except that Allah the Exalted has permitted talking in it; therefore, whoever speaks should speak good and virtuous words.

Hazrat Abu Saeed instructed his sons that when they perform Tawaf, they should not engage in idle actions during Tawaf, nor speak indecent words, nor relieve themselves, nor talk to anyone until they complete their Tawaf; if they have the ability to do so, they must certainly act accordingly.

Hazrat Ata says that I performed Tawaf behind Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and during the Tawaf, I did not hear either of them speak.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that the circumambulation (Tawaf) of the House of Allah is like prayer, so speak little during it.

Hazrat Ibrahim bin Nafi says that I performed Tawaf with Hazrat Tawus and I never saw him initiating conversation with anyone; however, if someone spoke to him, he would reply.

Hazrat Tawoos says that I consider it a blessing to complete the seven circuits of Tawaf, but no one should talk to me during it.
