Hazrat Nu’man bin Malik says that I performed Hajj Tamattu’, so I went to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) and said to him that I have performed Hajj Tamattu’. He said: { مَا اسْتَیْسَرَ مِنَ الْہَدْیِ } I asked, “A goat?” He said, “Yes, a goat.”

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says { مَا اسْتَیْسَرَ مِنَ الْہَدْیِ } (whatever sacrificial animal is available) refers to a goat.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that by Allah’s command { مَا اسْتَیْسَرَ مِنَ الْہَدْیِ }, both inexpensive and expensive animals are included.

Ibrahim says that "ma istaysara min al-hady" refers to a goat.

Hazrat Zuhri was asked what is meant by { مَا اسْتَیْسَرَ مِنَ الْہَدْیِ }? He replied: Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say that it refers to cows and camels, and Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say that it refers to goats.

Hazrat Alqamah says that by this is meant a goat.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that when a person performs Qiran in Hajj and Umrah, then a camel is obligatory upon him. It was said to him that Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud used to say that it is a goat. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Fasting is more preferable to me than a goat.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) say that Hadi should be from among camels and cows.

Hazrat Ibn Zubair says that Hadi (sacrificial animal) should be from a cow or camel with a large belly.

The father of Ibn Tawoos says: She-camels and cows have been made available to you for Hadi (sacrificial offering).

Hazrat Abu Ja'far says that by this is meant a goat.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that in Hajj Tamattu', a goat will suffice.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that { مَا اسْتَیْسَرَ مِنَ الْہَدْیِ } refers to a goat.

Hazrat Wabra bin Abdur Rahman says that I came to Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and said to him: I am liable for a Hadi (sacrificial animal), which animal do you advise me to offer? He replied: It should be from among cows, or else three or seven days of fasting when you return to your family, and these fasts are more preferable to me than a goat.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "What is meant by 'ma istaysara min al-hady' is a goat."

According to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), { مَا اسْتَیْسَرَ مِنَ الْہَدْیِ } refers to a camel or a cow, and according to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), { مَا اسْتَیْسَرَ مِنَ الْہَدْیِ } refers to a goat.
