Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said regarding a person whose nail breaks: If he feels pain, he should cut it and relieve himself from it.

Hazrat Ata says that if there is pain in the nail due to splitting or chipping, then cut it.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that if a Muhrim's nail breaks, he should cut it.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that when the nail of a Muhrim breaks, he should cut it and throw it away.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abu Maryam says that I was in the state of Ihram when I had pain in my nail, so I wanted to cut it. Then I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair, and he asked, "Did you have pain?" I said, "Yes." So he said, "Nephew, cut it off. Allah the Exalted has said: { یُرِیْدُ اللّٰہُ بِکُمُ الْیُسْرَ وَ لَا یُرِیْدُ بِکُمُ الْعُسْرَ }."

Hazrat Ata says that if a Muhrim’s nail breaks, he may cut the nail from that place; there is nothing (no penalty) upon him. But if he cuts the nail without it being broken (or from a place where it is not broken), then a (sacrificial) animal (dam) is due upon him.

Hazrat Hammad says that a person in the state of Ihram will cut his nails.

Hazrat Ata says that a person in the state of Ihram can cut open a wound, trim the nails, cut off protruding excess flesh, have a molar extracted, and apply medicine to a wound.

Ibrahim says that a person in the state of ihram can cut open a wound, squeeze it to extract pus, cut a broken nail, and set a broken bone.

Hazrat Aamir says that if a Muhrim cuts the skin, there is no harm in it.
