Some scholars say whoever carries the bier should make wudu
Hadith 12367
١٢٣٦٧ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أنا محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة قال: من غسل ميتًا فليغتسل ومن حمل جنازة فليتوضأ (١).
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whoever bathes a deceased person should take a bath afterwards, and whoever carries the bier should perform ablution.
Hadith 12368
١٢٣٦٨ - حدثنا (شبابة) (١) (حدثنا) (٢) ابن أبي ذئب عن صالح مولى التوأمة عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ قال: "من غسل ميتًا فليغتسل ومن حمله فليتوضأ" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever bathes a deceased person should take a bath, and whoever carries him should perform ablution.
Hadith 12369
١٢٣٦٩ - حدثنا حفص عن ليث عن مجاهد عن عثمان قال: من حمل جنازة فليتوضأ (١).
Hazrat Usman said: Whoever carries a bier should perform ablution.
