Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abi Ma'mar narrates that we were sitting when a funeral passed by and we stood up. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "What is this?" We replied, "Hazrat Abu Musa instructed us to do so." He said, "The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up only once, and then he did not repeat standing up again."

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates that we were with Hazrat Ali (may Allah honor his face) when a funeral procession passed by us. A person stood up. Hazrat Ali (may Allah honor his face) said, "What is this? This is among the customs of the Jews."

Hazrat Muhammad says that Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw a funeral procession. One of them stood up and the other remained seated. The one who stood up asked the one who did not stand, "Did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not use to stand (at funerals)?" He replied, "Why not," and then he sat down.

Hazrat Abu Ishaq narrates that when a funeral procession would pass by Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and the companions of Hazrat Abdullah, they would not stand up.

Ibrahim narrates that when a funeral procession passed by the companions of Abdullah, none of them stood up.

Ibrahim narrates that when a funeral procession would pass by the (Companions), they would not stand up.

Hazrat Laith says that Hazrat Ata and Hazrat Mujahid saw a funeral but did not stand up.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him, may Allah honor his face) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) stood up for a funeral, we also stood up. Then when he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) sat down, we also sat down.
