Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Hafsa narrates that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Truthful, had made a will that when Zakwan levels her grave, he will be free. She had intended that Zakwan should lower her into the grave. (After her passing) Hazrat Zakwan lowered her into the grave, and at that time he was a slave.

Hazrat Alaa bin Musayyib narrates from his father that the person who will be behind a woman (in her affairs) will be the one who is closest to her.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi narrates that when Hazrat Zainab bint Jahsh passed away, Hazrat Umar recited four takbirs in her funeral prayer, and then asked the noble wives who should lower her into the grave. They replied, "Whoever used to come to her during her lifetime should lower her (i.e., the relative from whom she did not observe veiling)."

Hasan says that a man (husband) will lower the woman into the grave, and he himself will be at the lower part of the woman.
