Some scholars recite three takbirs in the funeral prayer
Hadith 11798
١١٧٩٨ - حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن عمرو عن أبي (معبد) (١) قال: كان ابن عباس يجمع الناس بالحمد ويكبر على الجنازة ثلاثًا (٢).
Hazrat Abu Ma'bad narrates that the people saw Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) reciting Surah Al-Fatihah in the funeral prayer and saying Takbeer three times.
Hadith 11799
١١٧٩٩ - حدثنا معاذ (بن معاذ) (١) عن عمران بن (حدير) (٢) قال: صليت مع أنس بن مالك على (جنازة) (٣) فكبر عليها ثلاثًا لم يزد عليها ثم انصرف (٤).
Hazrat Imran bin Hadeer narrates that I offered the funeral prayer behind Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). He said three takbirs and did not add anything to them, and then he returned.
Hadith 11800
١١٨٠٠ - حدثنا زيد بن الحباب عن القاسم قال: أخبرني أبي أنه (صلى) (١) على جنازة فقال له جابر بن زيد: تقدم، فكبر عليها ثلاثًا.
Hazrat Qasim narrates that his father told him that he was at a funeral when Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid said to him, "You go ahead and recite three takbirs over it."
