Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Jabir narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not specify any particular supplication for us in the funeral prayer through Hazrat Abu Bakr and Umar.

Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father and grandfather and from thirty Companions that they did not persist in anything regarding the funeral prayer (they did not recite any specific supplication).

Hazrat Ibrahim says that there is no specific supplication for the funeral prayer; ask for whatever you wish from your heart.

Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib and Hazrat Sha'bi say that there is no specific or prescribed supplication for the deceased.

Hazrat Imran bin Hadeer says that I asked Muhammad about the supplication (dua) for the funeral prayer. He replied, "We do not know of any specific or fixed supplication. Whatever good supplication you know, recite that."

Hazrat Bakr bin Abdullah says that there is no fixed or specific supplication for the funeral prayer.

Musa al-Juhani narrates that I asked Hazrat Hakam, Hazrat Sha’bi, Hazrat Ata, and Hazrat Mujahid whether there is any specific supplication for the funeral prayer. All of them replied: No, you are interceding (making shafa’ah) for him, so recite (make) whatever good intercession you know.

Hazrat Abu Salamah says that I heard from Hazrat Sha'bi. He says that there is no prescribed supplication in the funeral prayer.
