Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was attending a funeral when Hazrat Umar saw a woman who was crying loudly. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Umar: O Umar, leave her, surely the eyes are tearful and the soul is afflicted with grief, and the appointed promise is near.

Hazrat Jabbar al-Tai says that I was present at the funeral of Hazrat Umm Mus'ab bin Zubair, where Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was also present, riding a white donkey which was being led by someone holding its reins. And Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) were also present. Then they heard the sound of wailing and crying, so I said to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), "This is happening here and you are still present?" He replied: "O Jabbar, keep yourself away from them (we are not responsible for this). Surely, it is Allah who makes one laugh and Allah who makes one weep."

Hasan went out with a funeral procession in which there were sounds of wailing. When Thabit turned back, Hasan said to him, "Are you leaving the truth because of falsehood?" The narrator says (upon hearing this) he proceeded with the funeral procession.

Hazrat Khalid bin Abi Bakr says: I saw Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Qasim walking in front of the funeral procession, and the women were behind the funeral.
