Closing the Eyes of the Deceased
Hadith 11191
١١١٩١ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن خالد عن أبي قلابة عن قبيصة بن ذؤيب أن النبي ﷺ أغمض أبا سلمة (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Qabeesah bin Dhu’aib that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) closed the eyes of Hazrat Abu Salamah (after his passing).
Hadith 11192
١١١٩٢ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد عن يحيى بن أبي راشد (النصري) (١) قال: قال عمر حين حضرته الوفاة لابنه: إذا قبضت (فأغمضني) (٢) (٣).
Hazrat Yahya bin Abu Rashid Al-Basri narrates that when the time of Hazrat Umar’s death approached, he said to his son: When my soul is taken, then close my eyes.
Hadith 11193
١١١٩٣ - حدثنا ابن نمير عن (ابن) (١) جريج عن (ابن) (٢) شهاب قال: ⦗٤٥٣⦘ أغمض رسول اللَّه ﷺ عين رجل (٣).
Hazrat Ibn Shihab narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) closed the eyes of a man (after his death).
Hadith 11194
١١١٩٤ - حدثنا ابن نمير عن ابن جريج عن عطاء (أو) (١) غيره قال: قال عمر: لقنوا موتاكم لا إله إلا اللَّه وأغمضوا أعينهم إذا ماتوا (٢).
Hazrat Umar said: Instruct your dying ones to say "La ilaha illallah," and when they pass away, close their eyes.
