Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Instruct your dying ones to say La ilaha illallah.

Hazrat Umar said: Go to your dying ones and remind them of La ilaha illallah (prompt them to say it), for surely they see (things) and it is said to them.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Instruct your dying ones to say "La ilaha illallah."

Ibrahim narrates: When the time of death approached for Hazrat Alqamah, he said, "Let those sit near me who remind me of 'La ilaha illallah' and prompt me to recite it."

Ibrahim narrates that Alqama advised Aswad to prompt him with "La ilaha illallah."

Hazrat Umar said: Instruct your dying ones to say La ilaha illallah.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I asked Hazrat Ata whether it is recommended to give talqin (prompting of the testimony of faith) to the deceased? He replied, "Yes, it is good, and I also like it."

Ibrahim says that when a person's illness would worsen, (the Companions) used to prefer that he should not be left alone and that he should be helped; when some people would leave, others would come, and they would prompt him to say "La ilaha illallah."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Instruct your dying ones to say La ilaha illallah.

Ibrahim narrates that Hazrat Aswad made a will to a person and said: If you are able to ensure that my last words are "La ilaha illallah," then definitely do so, and do not make my grave solid (constructed).

A person came to Hazrat Abdullah bin Ja'far and mentioned the suffering of a sick person. He said, "Prompt him to say La ilaha illallah, for indeed, whoever's last words are La ilaha illallah will enter Paradise."

Hazrat Zadhan says: Whoever says "La ilaha illallah" at the time of death will enter Paradise.

It is narrated from Hazrat Uthman that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever departs from this world in such a state that he knows and believes in "La ilaha illallah" will enter Paradise.

It is narrated from Hazrat Al-Musayyib bin Rafi that Hazrat Abdullah said: Instruct your dying ones to say "La ilaha illallah" (There is no god but Allah), for indeed, any Muslim whose last words are this, the fire of Hell is forbidden for him.
