Collection Is Only Once a Year
Hadith 11042
١١٠٤٢ - حدثنا (أبو بكر) (١) قال: (حدثنا) (٢) معن بن عيسى عن ابن أبي ذئب (عن الزهري) (٣) قال: لم يبلغنا (أن أحدًا) (٤) من ولاة هذه الأمة الذين كانوا بالمدينة أبو بكر وعمر وعثمان أنهم (٥) يثنون (الصدقة) (٦) لكن يبعثون عليها كل عام في الخصب والجدب؛ لأبي أخذها سنة من رسول اللَّه ﷺ (٧).
Imam Zuhri states that regarding the leaders of this Ummah who were in Madinah—Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman—we have not received any report that they collected zakat twice in a year. However, every year they used to send (people) for both green and dry produce so that it would be collected from them according to the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 11043
١١٠٤٣ - حدثنا محمد بن بكر عن ابن جريج قال: أخبرني سليمان الأحول عن طاوس أنه قال: إذا تداركت الصدقتان فلا (تؤخذ) (١) الأولى كالجزية.
Hazrat Tawus says that when you come across two charities, do not collect the first one like jizya.
Hadith 11044
١١٠٤٤ - حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الوليد بن كثير عن (حسن) (١) بن حسن من أمه فاطمة أن النبي ﷺ قال: "لا (ثني) (٢) في الصدقة" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Fatimah that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Zakat is not to be given twice in a year.
