Some permitted buying and freeing a slave with zakah
Hadith 10716
١٠٧١٦ - حدثنا حفص عن أشعث بن سوار قال: سئل الحسن عن رجل اشترى أباه من الزكاة، فأعتقه قال: اشترى خير الرقاب.
A person asked Hasan, "Can I buy my father with zakat money and set him free?" He replied, "You have bought the best slave."
Hadith 10717
١٠٧١٧ - حدثنا (أبو جعفر) (١) عن الأعمش عن حسان عن مجاهد عن ابن عباس أنه كان لا يرى بأسًا أن يعطى الرجل من زكاته في الحج، وأن يعتق منها (النسمة) (٢) (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) did not see any harm in performing Hajj with Zakat wealth and in purchasing and freeing slaves.
