Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that a person who possesses a house, a servant, and a horse (means of transport) can be given zakat.

Ibrahim says that the Companions did not forbid giving zakat to someone who possessed a house and a servant.

Hasan says that there is no harm in giving zakat to a person who owns a house and a servant, if he is in need.

Hazrat Shabeeb bin Abdul Malik narrates that I asked Hazrat Muqatil bin Hayyan whether a person among the people of the register (Ahl-e-Diwan), if he possesses some wealth and a riding animal, can he be given zakat? He replied: "Yes."
