Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Ubaid, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, narrates that I offered the Eid prayer with Hazrat Umar bin Khattab. He delivered the sermon before the prayer and said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on these two days. The day of Eid al-Fitr is the day of your breaking the fast, and on the day of Eid al-Adha, eat from your sacrifices.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Hazrat Abu Saeed reports that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Day of Arafah, the Day of Sacrifice, and the Days of Tashreeq are days of eating and drinking.

Hazrat Ziyad bin Jubair says that a man came to Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked him: If a man makes a vow to fast on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, what should he do? Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: Allah Almighty has commanded the fulfillment of vows, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden fasting on these days.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
