Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sha’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hakam and Hazrat Hammad: If a person is observing a voluntary fast and his mother asks him to break the fast, what should he do? Both of them replied that he should obey his mother and break the fast occasionally.

Hazrat Laith says that I asked Hazrat Ata that my mother, out of compassion for me, made me take an oath that I would not perform any voluntary prayer after the obligatory ones and would not keep any voluntary fasts other than the obligatory ones. What is the ruling for me now? He replied: Fulfill your mother's oath.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid narrates that I asked Hazrat Mak'hool, "If a person is observing a voluntary fast and his mother asks him to break the fast, what should he do?" Hazrat Mak'hool replied, "He should break the fast and make up for it by fasting one day in its place."
