Spreading Pebbles in the Mosque
Hadith 9075
٩٠٧٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا ابن نمير قال: ثنا (هشام) (١) بن عروة عن أبيه أن عمر أراد أن لا يحصب المسجد فأشار عليه سفيان بن عبد اللَّه الثقفي قال: بلى يا أمير المؤمنين فإنه اغفر للنخامة وأوطأ للمجلس فقال عمر: أحصبوه (٢).
Hazrat Urwah narrates that once Hazrat Umar intended that pebbles should not be spread in the mosque. Hazrat Sufyan bin Abdullah advised him, "O Commander of the Faithful! Pebbles conceal spittle and are comfortable to sit on." Upon this, Hazrat Umar ordered that pebbles be spread.
