What is Meant by the Prayers of Adbar al-Sujud and Adbar al-Nujum?
Hadith 8987
٨٩٨٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن مهدي عن سفيان عن علوان بن أبي ⦗٤٢٥⦘ مالك عن الشعبي قال: ﴿وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ﴾ (ركعتان) (١) بعد المغرب، ﴿وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ﴾ (ركعتان) (٢) قبل صلاة الفجر.
Hazrat Sha'bi says that "adbar al-sujood" refers to the two rak'ahs after Maghrib, and "adbar al-nujoom" refers to the two rak'ahs before Fajr.
Hadith 8988
٨٩٨٨ - حدثنا (ابن) (١) مهدي عن سفيان عن إبراهيم بن مهاجر عن إبراهيم مثله.
It is also narrated similarly from Ibrahim.
Hadith 8989
٨٩٨٩ - حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن سفيان عن أبي إسحاق عن عاصم بن ضمرة عن الحسن بن علي قال: ﴿أَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ﴾ (ركعتان) (١) بعد المغرب (٢).
Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that "Adbar al-Sujood" refers to the two rak'ahs after Maghrib.
Hadith 8990
٨٩٩٠ - [حدثنا وكيع عن يزيد بن إبراهيم قال: سمعت الحسن يقول: ﴿وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ﴾: (الركعتان) (١) قبل الفجر، ﴿وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ﴾: (الركعتان) (٢) بعد المغرب.
Hasan says that "adbar al-nujoom" refers to the two rak'ahs before Fajr, and "adbar al-sujood" refers to the two rak'ahs after Maghrib.
Hadith 8991
٨٩٩١ - حدثنا وكيع عن أبي العنبس قال: سمعت (زاذان) (١) يقول مثله.
The same is narrated from Hazrat Zadhan.
Hadith 8992
٨٩٩٢ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن عثمان الثقفي عن علي بن ربيعة عن علي مثله (١).
It is similarly narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 8993
٨٩٩٣ - حدثنا (أبو الأحوص) (١) عن أبي إسحاق عن الحارث عن علي قال: ﴿وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ﴾: (ركعتان) (٢) بعد المغرب ﴿وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ﴾: (ركعتان) (٣) قبل الفجر] (٤) (٥).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that "Adbar al-Sujood" refers to the two rak'ahs after Maghrib, and "Adbar al-Nujoom" refers to the two rak'ahs before Fajr.

٨٩٩٤ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن أبي العنبس عن (زاذان) (١) عن ابن عمر عن عمر قال: ﴿وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ﴾: (ركعتان) (٢) قبل الفجر ﴿وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ﴾: (ركعتان) (٣) بعد المغرب (٤).
Hazrat Umar says that "Adbar al-Nujoom" refers to the two rak'ahs before Fajr, and "Adbar al-Sujood" refers to the two rak'ahs after Maghrib.
Hadith 8995
٨٩٩٥ - حدثنا عفان قال: ثنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن أوس بن خالد عن أبي هريرة قال: ﴿وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ﴾: (ركعتان) (١) قبل الفجر، ﴿وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ﴾: (ركعتان) (٢) بعد المغرب (٣).
Hazrat Abu Huraira says that "Adbar al-Nujoom" refers to the two rak'ahs before Fajr, and "Adbar al-Sujood" refers to the two rak'ahs after Maghrib.
