Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Harith narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) led the people in the prayer for earthquake, in which he performed four prostrations and six bowings.

Hazrat Shahr narrates that during the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there was an earthquake in Madinah. The Prophet said, "Your Lord wants to draw your attention towards goodness, so turn towards goodness."

Hazrat Safiyyah bint Abi Ubaid narrates that during the time of Hazrat Umar, there was such a severe earthquake that the beds began to shake. At that time, Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar was performing prayer and he was completely unaware of the earthquake. On this occasion, Hazrat Umar delivered a sermon to the people and said that you have introduced new things into the religion and you have acted with haste. Hazrat Safiyyah says that to the best of my knowledge, after this he only said: If the earthquake happens again, I will leave from among you.
