Touching and Arranging Pebbles During Prayer
Hadith 8033
٨٠٣٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري (عن (أبي) (١) ⦗١٩٠⦘ الأحوص) (٢) عن أبي ذر قيل لسفيان عن النبي ﷺ قال: نعم (قال) (٣): "إذا قام أحدكم التي الصلاة فلا يمسح الحصى" (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you stands in prayer, he should not touch the pebbles.
Hadith 8034
٨٠٣٤ - حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن أشعث عن أبي الزبير عن جابر أنه كان يكره (مسح) (١) الحصى (٢).
Hazrat Abu Zubair says that Hazrat Jabir considered touching pebbles during prayer to be disliked.
Hadith 8035
٨٠٣٥ - حدثنا ابن نمير عن عثمان بن (الحكم) (١) عن شرحبيل أبي (سعد) (٢) عن أبي الدرداء قال: ما أحب أن لي حمر النعم وأني مسحت مكان جبيني من الحصى إلا أن يغلبني فأمسح مسحة (٣).
Hazrat Abu Darda says that I do not prefer to remove pebbles from the place of my forehead during prayer in exchange for red camels; however, if there is excessive discomfort, I will remove them once.
Hadith 8036
٨٠٣٦ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين (عن زهير) (١) عن جابر عن سالم بن عبد اللَّه عن عبد الرحمن ابن زيد بن الخطاب أنه صلى إلى جنب عمر فمسح الحصى (وأمسك) (٢) بيده (٣).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Zaid bin Khattab prayed with Hazrat Umar. He touched some pebbles, so Hazrat Umar held his hand.
Hadith 8037
٨٠٣٧ - حدثنا حميد بن عبد الرحمن] (١) عن أبيه عن أبي إسحاق عن (ابن) (٢) عطية عن أبي صالح قال: إذا سجدت فلا تمسح (الحصى) (٣) فإن كل حصاة تحب أن يسجد عليها.
Hazrat Abu Salih says that when you perform prostration, do not touch the pebbles with your hand, because every pebble wishes that prostration be performed upon it.
