Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Umm Hani states that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to my house on the day of the conquest of Makkah. I arranged water for him; he performed ghusl (ritual bath), then offered eight rak‘ahs of the forenoon prayer (Duha). I have never seen him perform that prayer before or after that day.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Laila narrates that except for Hazrat Umm Hani, no one informed us about the Duha (forenoon) prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She states that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to my house, performed ghusl (ritual bath), and then offered eight rak‘ahs of Duha prayer. In these rak‘ahs, he kept the bowing and prostration brief. I have never seen him perform that prayer before or after that day.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Laila states that I have met people who had complete knowledge of religious matters. Except for Hazrat Umm Hani, no one informed me about the Duha (forenoon) prayer; she informed that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed eight rak'ahs of the Duha prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Hani that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed eight rak'ahs of Duha (forenoon) prayer.

The grandmother of Hazrat Ibn Rumaythah narrates that I went to the service of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her); she was performing the Duha (forenoon) prayer, and she offered eight rak‘ahs.

Hazrat Saeed bin Marjanah narrates that I was sitting behind Hazrat Saad bin Malik while he was offering the Duha (forenoon) prayer. I counted and he performed eight rak'ahs. He sat only in the last rak'ah, recited the Tashahhud in it, then ended the prayer with Salam and thus completed the prayer.

Hazrat Tamimah bint Dahim says that she saw Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) performing six rak'ahs of Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Hazrat Rumaysa says that I went to one of the rooms of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) in which she was alone. I saw that she performed eight rak'ahs of Duha prayer.

Hazrat Umm Salamah used to perform eight rak'ahs of Duha prayer while sitting. Someone said to her that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) performs four rak'ahs. She replied that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) is a young woman.

Ibrahim narrates that when Alqamah would come to the city, he used to perform four units of Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I came with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the area of Banu Muawiyah. There, he performed eight units of the Duha prayer and recited them at length.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah narrates that my beloved friend, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), instructed me to perform two rak‘ahs of Duha (forenoon) prayer.
