Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever performs the Duha (forenoon) prayer, all his sins are forgiven, even if they are as much as the foam of the sea.

Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the people of Quba and they were performing prayer at the time of Duha (forenoon). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them and said: At the time of Duha, when the young camel sits on the sand due to the heat, that is the time when the Awabeen (those who turn to Allah) perform prayer.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaqiq says that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) whether the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the Duha (forenoon) prayer. She replied, "No, but if he returned from a journey, then he would offer this prayer."

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer only once.

Hazrat Qasim bin Muhammad narrates that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer at great length.

Hazrat Abu Huraira says: Make the prostrations of Duha (forenoon prayer) obligatory upon yourself; they are better for you than two black, valuable she-camels.

Hazrat Abu Rabab narrates that Hazrat Abu Dharr performed the Duha prayer and prolonged it.

Hazrat Ikrimah was asked about Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the Duha prayer, so he replied that he would perform it one day and leave it for ten days.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib used to offer the Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Ibrahim says that the predecessors used to perform the Duha prayer and supplicate.

Ibrahim states that the predecessors disliked that the Duha prayer be performed with the same regularity as the obligatory prayers.

Hazrat Qasim bin Muhammad narrates that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to close the door and perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) was asked about the Duha (forenoon) prayer, so he replied that its mention is also in the Holy Qur'an. But only one who reflects and ponders can reach it. Allah Almighty says: "In houses which Allah has ordered to be exalted and that His name be remembered therein, there glorify Him in the mornings and the evenings."

Hazrat Salim Aftas narrates that Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair performed the Duha (forenoon) prayer in the Ka'bah.

Hazrat Mutahhar bin Juwairiyah says that I have seen Hazrat Dahhak performing the Duha prayer. And I have seen Hazrat Abu Mujliz performing the Duha prayer in his house.

Hazrat Saeed bin Amr Qureshi says that my father left me with Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) so that I could acquire knowledge from him. I never saw him performing the Duha (forenoon) prayer. If people performed the Duha prayer, he would say, "How good this new voluntary prayer seems."

Hazrat Abu Hurairah narrates that my beloved friend advised me to perform the Duha prayer because it is the prayer of the Awabeen (the righteous servants who turn towards Allah).
