Lengthening the standing in Witr
Hadith 7139
٧١٣٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا هشيم عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال: دخلت على الأسود ذات ليلة وهو مريض فصلى الوتر ورجل (مسنده) (١) إليه قال: فقنت فأطال القنوت حتى ظننت أنه قد زاد على ما كان يصنع.
Ibrahim narrates that one night I went to Hazrat Aswad, he was ill. He performed Witr while leaning against a man. While reciting the Qunoot supplication, he recited it longer than his usual amount.
Hadith 7140
٧١٤٠ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسماعيل بن عبد الملك عن سعيد بن جبير أنه كان يقوم بنا في الوتر قدر ما يقرأ مائة آية.
Hazrat Ismail bin Abdul Malik narrates that Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair, while leading us in Witr prayer, used to stand (in prayer) for the duration of about one hundred verses.
Hadith 7141
٧١٤١ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال: يقام في قنوت الوتر قدر ﴿إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ﴾.
Ibrahim says that in Witr, the standing (recitation) should be equal to Surah Al-Inshiqaq.
Hadith 7142
٧١٤٢ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن عاصم عن أبي عثمان أنه سئل عن قنوت عمر في الفجر فقال: كان يقنت بقدر ما يقرأ الرجل مائة آية (١).
Hazrat Asim narrates that Hazrat Abu Usman was asked how long Hazrat Umar would spend in the Qunoot of Fajr. He replied: As long as it takes a person to recite one hundred verses.
