Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to recite the Du'a Qunoot only after the middle of Ramadan.

It is narrated similarly through another chain.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite the Du'a Qunoot after the middle of Ramadan.

Hasan narrates that Ubayy led the people in prayer during the caliphate of Umar. He did not recite the Qunoot supplication in prayer until half of Ramadan had passed. When half of Ramadan had passed, he recited the Qunoot supplication after bowing (ruku‘). When the last ten days began, he left and separated himself from the people. Then, during the caliphate of Umar, Mu‘adh al-Qari used to lead them in prayer during the last ten days.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I asked Hazrat Ata about the Qunoot in Ramadan, so he said that after the middle of Ramadan, Hazrat Umar was the first to recite the Qunoot. I asked, "Was it observed more in the last half of Ramadan?" He replied, "Yes."

Hazrat Abad bin Rashid says that Hasan used to recite the Du'a Qunoot after the middle of Ramadan.

Hazrat Muhallab bin Abi Habibah says that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Abi Al-Hasan about Qunoot, so he said that after the middle of Ramadan, the supplication of Qunoot will be recited, and this is what we have been taught.

Hazrat A'mash says that Yahya used to recite the Du'a Qunoot in Witr after the middle of Ramadan.

Ibrahim used to say that reciting Qunoot in Witr throughout the year is Sunnah. Ibn Sirin was of the opinion that Qunoot should be recited in Witr only after half of Ramadan.

Hasan narrates that when Umar ordered Ubayy to lead the people in Tarawih during Ramadan, he told him to recite the Du'a Qunoot to the people from the night of the sixteenth of Ramadan, after half of Ramadan had passed. Hasan used to say that if one is an imam, he should recite the Du'a Qunoot after half of Ramadan. If he is not an imam, he should recite the Du'a Qunoot for the entire month of Ramadan.

Ibrahim says that Abdullah did not recite the Qunoot supplication in Fajr throughout the year, and in Witr, he would recite the Qunoot supplication before bowing (ruku') throughout the year. Abu Bakr says that this is also our view.
