Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sha'bi says: Do not abandon your Witr, even if half the day has passed.

Hazrat Sha'bi, Hazrat Ata, Hasan, Hazrat Tawus, and Hazrat Mujahid say: Do not leave the Witr prayer, even if the sun rises.

Hazrat Ata and Hazrat Tawus say that if a person did not offer Witr and the sun has risen, he should still offer Witr.

Hazrat Wabra says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that if a person does not pray Witr until morning, what should he do? He replied, "If you do not pray the Fajr prayer until sunrise, will you not make it up (qada)?" It was as if Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) wanted to say that he should pray the Witr.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair was asked that if a person is unable to perform Witr until morning, what should he do? He replied that he will perform two Witr the next day.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Qasim narrates that my father performed Witr after the dawn had risen.

Ibn Aun says that I asked Muhammad, if a person falls asleep and the time of morning arrives, can he offer one rak'ah of Witr after morning has come? He replied that I do not see any harm in it.

Hazrat Shu’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hammad about a person who did not perform Witr until sunrise. He replied that I prefer that he should perform Witr. I asked the same question to Hazrat Hakam, and he said that if he wishes, he may leave Witr.

Hazrat Muawiyah bin Qurrah narrates that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Morning has come upon me and I have not performed Witr." The Prophet replied, "Witr is performed at night." The man again said, "Morning has come upon me and I have not performed Witr." The Prophet again replied, "Witr is performed at night." The man said for the third time, "Morning has come upon me but I have not performed Witr." The Prophet again replied, "Witr is performed at night." When the man repeated the same thing for the fourth time, the Prophet said, "Then perform Witr now."

Hasan, Ibrahim, and Hazrat Ata say that if one has not performed Witr at night and the Fajr has dawned, then perform Witr before the Fajr prayer.

Hazrat Masrooq says that even if the Fajr prayer has been performed, he should still offer the Witr prayer.

Hazrat Abu Maryam says that a man came to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I fell asleep and did not perform Witr until the sun had risen." He replied, "In such a case, when you wake up and remember, then perform it at that time."
