Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered two rak'ahs at home after Maghrib.

Ibrahim narrates that Abdur Rahman bin Awf used to offer two rak'ahs of Maghrib prayer in his house.

Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the mosque of Banu Abdul Ashhal and led them in the Maghrib prayer. When he finished the prayer with salam, he said: "Offer these two rak‘ahs in your homes." The narrator, Umar bin Qatadah, says that Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed was the imam of his people; after leading the Maghrib prayer, he would sit in the courtyard of the mosque, and before the time for ‘Isha entered, he would go home and offer the two Sunnah rak‘ahs of Maghrib there.

Hazrat Abbas bin Sahl Sa’idi says that I was fortunate to witness the era of Hazrat Uthman bin Affan; when he would say salam at the end of Maghrib prayer in the mosque, not a single person would be seen in the mosque. They would all rush towards the doors of the mosque and offer two Sunnah prayers at home.

Hazrat Maymoon states that the predecessors used to offer the two rak'ahs after Maghrib in their homes.
