Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Atiyyah says that Hazrat Malik bin Huwairith used to come to our place of prayer. When the time for prayer would arrive, we would say to him, "You lead the prayer." He would say, "Let one of you lead the prayer, and I will tell you why I am not leading." I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "When a person goes to meet some people, he should not lead them in prayer; rather, someone from that community should lead the prayer."
