Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud performed prayer behind a villager during Hajj.

Hazrat Abbas Jariri says that Abu Majliz disliked the leadership of a villager in prayer, while Hasan did not see any harm in it.

Hazrat Darim narrates that I asked Hazrat Salim, "Can a Bedouin lead a Muhajir in prayer?" He replied, "If he is a righteous man, then there is no harm in it."

Hazrat Mughira says that Ibrahim was asked whether it is permissible for a slave and a villager to lead the prayer. He replied that if the slave is a jurist, then he is more preferable in my view.

Ibrahim says that there is no harm in a Bedouin leading the prayer.

Hazrat Mujahid narrates that Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud prayed behind a villager.
