Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went towards Badr, he appointed Hazrat Ibn Umm Maktum as his deputy in Madinah. Despite being blind, he used to lead the prayers.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Ibn Umm Maktum as his deputy, he used to lead the people in prayer despite being blind.

Hazrat Zuhri states that some companions of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead people in prayer despite being blind. Among them were Hazrat Itban bin Malik, Hazrat Mu'adh bin Afraa, and Hazrat Ibn Umm Maktum.

Hazrat Zuhri states that some Badr companions, despite losing their eyesight, used to lead prayers in their mosques.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far narrates that we were present in the company of Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) after he had lost his eyesight. Meanwhile, the time for prayer arrived, so he stood up wearing a cloth. When he placed it on his shoulder, due to its small size, its edges would fall to the ground. His sheet was hanging on the peg used for hanging clothes near him. In this state, he led us in prayer.

Hazrat Abu Amir narrates that a man asked Hasan, "Can I lead my people in prayer despite being blind?" He replied, "Yes."

Hazrat Ata was asked whether a blind person can lead the prayer. He replied that yes, if he possesses the most knowledge.

Ibrahim says that there is no harm in the leadership (imamat) of a blind person.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) led us in prayer while he was in a state of blindness.

The father of Ibn Umair narrates that a blind man used to lead the Banu Khutmah in prayer during the time of Umar.

Hazrat Muhajir narrates that Hazrat Bara, despite being blind, used to lead us in prayer.

Hazrat Itban bin Malik, despite being blind, used to lead people in prayer.

Hazrat Itban bin Malik, despite being blind, used to lead people in prayer.

Hazrat Urwah states that the imam of Banu Khathamah was blind.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far narrates that Hazrat Jabir led us in prayer after losing his eyesight.

Hakam bin Utaibah asked Hazrat Qasim about the leadership (imamat) and testimony (witness) of a blind person, so he replied: What thing can prevent him from leading (imamat) and giving testimony (witness)?

Hazrat Umar bin Atiyyah narrates that Hazrat Musayyib led us in prayer while he was blind.

A venerable elder, Abu Abdullah, says that Hazrat Ibn Abi Awfa led us in prayer while he was blind.
