أول العيدينThe First of the Two Eids
الصلاة يوم العيد من قال ركعتين
Eid prayer consists of two rak'ahs
Hadith 5979
٥٩٧٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا شريك عن زبيد (عن) (١) ابن أبي ليلى عن عمر قال: صلاة السفر ركعتان (والجمعة ركعتان) (٢) والعيدان ركعتان تمام غير قصر على لسان رسول اللَّه ﷺ (٣).
Hazrat Umar says that the prayer during travel is two rak‘ahs, the Friday prayer is two rak‘ahs, and the Eid prayer is two rak‘ahs. This is not a concession, but according to the Messenger (peace be upon him), this is the complete prayer.
Hadith 5980
٥٩٨٠ - حدثنا ابن إدريس عن شعبة عن عدي بن ثابت عن سعيد بن جبير عن ابن عباس قال: خرج رسول اللَّه ﷺ يوم عيد فطر (أو) (١) أضحى فصلى بالناس ركعتين ثم انصرف ولم يصل قبلها ولا بعدها (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in two units of prayer on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, then returned. He did not perform any prayer before it nor after it.
Hadith 5981
٥٩٨١ - حدثنا ابن نمير عن داود بن قيس قال: حدثني عياض بن عبد اللَّه بن أبي سرح عن أبي سعيد قال: كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يخرج يوم العيد يوم الفطر فيصلي بالناس ركعتين ثم يسلم (١).
Hazrat Abu Saeed narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would lead the people in two units of prayer on the day of Eid al-Fitr and then conclude with salam.
