Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) would set out early in the morning towards the Eid ground, reciting Takbeer aloud, and would reach the Imam.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ibrahim says that Hazrat Abu Qatadah used to recite Takbeer and remember Allah on the day of Eid.

Hazrat Zuhri states that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go out for Eid al-Fitr, he would recite the Takbeer until he reached the Eid ground and completed the prayer. After performing the prayer, he would not recite the Takbeer.

Hazrat Ata bin Saib says that I went for Eid with Abu Abdur Rahman and Ibn Ma'qil. Abu Abdur Rahman would say the Takbeer in a loud voice, and Ibn Ma'qil would say these words: There is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, sovereignty and praise belong to Him, and He has power over everything.

Yazid bin Abi Ziyad says that I went with Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair and Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila; both of them used to continuously say Takbeer and would also instruct those passing by them to say Takbeer.

Hazrat A'mash says that I used to go for Eid prayer with my teachers Ibrahim, Khaythamah, and Abu Salih; they did not say the takbeer.

Hansh Abu Mu'tamir narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) recited the Takbeerat from his home until he reached the Eidgah on the day of Eid al-Adha.

Hazrat Ata says that it is Sunnah for a person to recite Takbeerat on the day of Eid.

Hazrat Shu’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hammad and Hazrat Hakam whether I should recite the Takbeer while going out for Eid. Both replied, "Yes."

Hazrat Urwah used to recite the Takbeerat on the day of Eid.

Hazrat Zuhri says that on the day of Eid, people would leave their homes reciting Takbeer until they reached the Eidgah and until the Imam arrived. When the Imam arrived, they would become silent. When the Imam recited Takbeer, they would also recite Takbeer.

Hazrat Shu’bah says that I was taking Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) on the day of Eid when he heard people reciting the Takbeer. He asked, “What is the matter with the people?” I said, “They are reciting the Takbeer.” He said, “Why are they reciting the Takbeer? Has the Imam recited the Takbeer?” I said, “No.” He said, “Are these people mad or what?”
