Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Qatadah, regarding the person who starts the prayer with the Imam on Friday, but due to the crowd is unable to perform the bowing and prostration, and meanwhile the Imam completes the prayer, states that Hasan and Ibrahim used to say that he will perform two rak'ahs on Friday.

Ibn ‘Ulayyah says that Yunus was asked: If a person performs two bowings (ruku‘) on Friday but is unable to perform the prostrations (sujood) until the imam completes the prayer with salam, what should he do? Yunus replied: I have been informed regarding Hasan that he should perform the two prostrations, then stand up and make up the first rak‘ah.

Hazrat Ibn Aun says that a man asked Hazrat Nafi, "If, due to the crowd, I am unable to perform bowing and prostration on Friday, what should I do?" He replied, "If this were to happen to me, I would perform the prayer by indicating (gestures)."

Hazrat Zuhri says that when you get stuck in a crowd on Friday and are unable to perform prostration, then wait until the people stand up, and at that time perform the prostration.
