It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Once Hazrat Jibreel came to me, and with him was something like a white mirror in which there was a black spot. I asked him, "O Jibreel! What is this?" He replied, "This is Friday." I asked him, "What is Friday?" He said, "There is goodness in it for you." I asked, "What is there in it for us?" He replied, "It is a day of Eid for you and for your Ummah after you. The Jews and Christians are subordinate to you in this regard." I asked him, "What is there in it for us?" He said, "There is an hour in it during which, whatever a person asks Allah for of the matters of this world and the Hereafter, it is granted to him. If that thing is not destined for him, Allah writes for him something better than it. Similarly, if he seeks refuge from something and it has already been decreed for him, Allah grants him salvation from a greater evil." I asked Hazrat Jibreel, "What is this spot in the mirror?" Hazrat Jibreel replied, "This is that very hour of acceptance which occurs on the day of Friday. On the Day of Resurrection, we will call the day of Friday 'Yawm al-Mazeed' (the Day of Increase)." I asked him, "Why will it be called Yawm al-Mazeed?" He replied, "Allah Almighty will create a valley of white musk in Paradise, then on Friday He will descend from 'Illiyyeen and sit upon His Throne. Around the Throne there will be golden pulpits adorned with jewels. Then the noble Prophets will come and sit on those pulpits. Then the people of the chambers of Paradise will come out and sit on mounds of fragrance. Then Allah Almighty will manifest Himself to them and say, 'Ask of Me whatever you wish, it will be granted to you.' They will ask Allah for His pleasure. Allah Almighty will say, 'The sign of My pleasure for you is that I have made you dwell in My house and granted you My hospitality. Ask Me for something else, I will grant it to you.' They will ask Allah for His pleasure. Then Allah Almighty will make them witnesses that He is pleased with them. Then Allah will open for them such blessings as no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has ever imagined. And its duration will be as long as your return from the Friday prayer. Then Allah Almighty will depart, and with Him the Prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs will also depart. The people of the chambers will return to their chambers, which will be made of white pearls, without any joints or cracks, or of red pearls, or of green chrysolite. In it will be their own chambers, its doors will be open, rivers will flow in them, and clusters of fruits will hang down. The people of Paradise will desire nothing more than to see their Lord as much as possible and to benefit as much as possible from His honor.
