Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Asim narrates that I performed the Friday prayer with Hazrat Abu Qilabah. When I had completed the prayer, he made me stand in his place and he himself stood in my place.

Hazrat Yahya bin Abi Kathir says that I saw Uqbah bin Abd al-Ghafir and Hassan bin Bilal change their places after offering the Friday prayer.

Hazrat Duamah bin Yazid says that I performed prayer with Hazrat Abu Majliz. When I completed the prayer, he made me stand in his place and he himself stood in my place.

Hazrat Habib says that I performed prayer with Hazrat Safwan bin Muhriz; after the prayer, he made me stand in his place and himself stood in my place.

Hazrat Ata narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) offered the Friday prayer and then moved from his place. Then he performed two short rak'ahs. After that, he moved from that place and performed four rak'ahs which were a bit longer than the two rak'ahs.

Hazrat Umar bin Ata narrates that Hazrat Nafi’ bin Jubair sent me to Hazrat Sa’ib bin Ikht Namar so that I could ask him about what he had seen in the prayer of Hazrat Muawiyah. I asked him, and he said: I performed the Friday prayer with him in a room adjacent to the mosque. When the Imam finished the prayer with salam, I performed prayer standing in my place. When he (Muawiyah) came inside, he sent for me and said: Do not do again what you did today. When you have performed the Friday prayer, do not perform any prayer in that place until you have spoken or gone outside, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us that we should not join one prayer to another without speaking or leaving the place.

Hazrat Amr bin Aas considered it undesirable to perform prayers at midday except for the Friday prayer.

Hazrat Tawus says that the whole day of Friday is for prayer.

Hazrat Hakam states that performing prayer at midday is disliked, however, the Friday prayer is valid.

Hazrat Shu’bah says that I asked Hazrat Mu’awiyah bin Qurrah about performing prayer before the decline of the sun on Friday, so he replied that there is no harm in it.

Hasan says that performing prayer at midday is disliked, except for the Friday prayer, which is permissible.

Hazrat Tawus says that the whole day of Friday is for prayer.

Hasan says that there is no harm in performing prayer at midday on Friday.
