Hadith 5115
٥١١٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن علي بن علي بن رفاعة عن (حيان) (١) الأعرج عن جابر بن زيد قال: ربما وجدت البرد يوم الجمعة فلا أغتسل.
Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid says that sometimes on Fridays I feel cold, so I do not perform ghusl.
Hadith 5116
٥١١٦ - حدثنا هشيم قال: أخبرنا إسماعيل عن الشعبي.
Hazrat Sha'bi, Ibrahim, and Hazrat Ata say that whoever performs ablution on Friday, it is good, and whoever performs ghusl, it is even better.
Hadith 5119
٥١١٩ - حدثنا هشيم قال أخبرنا عبيدة عن أبي وائل قال: ذكروا غسل يوم الجمعة عنده فقال أبو وائل: إنه ليس بواجب؛ رب شيخ كبير لو اغتسل في البرد الشديد يوم الجمعة لمات.
Hazrat Ubaidah says that when the mention of bathing on Friday was made before Hazrat Abu Wa'il, he said that bathing on Friday is not obligatory. There are many elderly people who, if they bathe in severe cold, will die.
Hadith 5120
٥١٢٠ - حدثنا هشيم قال أخبرنا إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن الشعبي أنه كان لا يرى غسلا واجبا إلا الغسل من الجنابة.
Hazrat Sha'bi did not consider any bath obligatory except for the bath of janabah (major ritual impurity).
Hadith 5121
٥١٢١ - حدثنا عفان قال: ثنا همام عن قتادة عن الحسن عن سمرة أن النبي ﷺ قال: "مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ (لِلْجُمُعَةِ) (١) فَيهَا وَنَعِمَتْ، وَمَنْ اغْتَسَلَ فَذَلِكَ أَفْضَلُ" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs ablution on the day of Friday, it is sufficient, and whoever takes a bath, that is better.
Hadith 5122
٥١٢٢ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي صالح عن أبي هريرة قال: قال ⦗٧٧⦘ رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوَضُوءَ ثُمَّ أَتَى الْجْمُعَةَ فَدَنَا وَأَنْصَتَ وَاسْتمَعَ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الجُمعَةِ الأُخْرَى وَزِيادَةُ ثَلَاثةِ أَيَّامٍ وَمَنْ مَسَّ الْحَصَى فَقَدْ لَغَى" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever performs ablution well, then comes for Friday (prayer), sits near the Imam, remains silent, and listens attentively to the sermon, his sins from this Friday to the previous Friday and for three additional days are forgiven. Whoever touches pebbles during the sermon has engaged in idle activity.
Hadith 5123
٥١٢٣ - حدثنا حفص عن حجاج عن أبي جعفر قال: سألته عن غسل الجمعة فقال: ليس (غسل) (١) (واجبا) (٢) إلا من الجنابة.
Hazrat Hajjaj says that I asked Hazrat Abu Ja'far about the bath (ghusl) on the day of Friday, so he replied that except for janabah, no bath is obligatory.
Hadith 5124
٥١٢٤ - حدثنا علي بن هاشم عن ابن أبي ليلى عن عطية عن أبي سعيد عن النبي ﷺ قال: "مَنْ تَطَهَّرَ (فأحسنَ) (١) الطهورَ، ثمَّ أَتَى الجمعةَ فلم يَلْهُ ولم يجهَلْ كان كفارةً لما بينَها ويين الجمعةِ (الأخرى) (٢)، والصَّلَواتُ الخمسُ كفاراتٌ لما بَيْنَهُنَّ، وفي الجمعةِ ساعةٌ لا يوافِقُهَا عَبْدٌ مسلمٌ (فَيسَأَلَ) (٣) اللَّه خَيْرًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ" (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs a complete bath well, then comes for the Friday prayer and does not engage in any idle or ignorant act, then this Friday will be an expiation for all the sins committed since the previous Friday. Each of the five prayers is an expiation for the sins committed until the next prayer. There is an hour on Friday in which, whatever a servant asks from Allah Almighty, it is granted to him.
